Cambodia: Angkor Miracle - Kong Kea Restaurant
The morning of our journey from Siem Reap to Phnom Penh, CK and I tried to get ourselves some complimentary breakfast in our hotel. We got the times wrong, so by the time we meandered down to the dining room, breakfast was over. Instead, Kong Kea Restaurant was serving lunch.
We weren't really all that hungry. The 2 of us shared a plate of fries:
Stop laughing. The fries we got with our room service order the night before were so good that we wanted more. Maybe we'd been in Asia for so long that we forgot the awesomeness that is french fries. I dunno. But those fries were amazing.
We ordered amok fish probably out of guilt:
We were still in Cambodia after all. We had to balance the fries with a traditional Cambodian dish. The coconut fish curry was good, but not as intensely flavorful as Thai curries.
The amok came with rice and veggies:
After finishing up, we returned to our room, packed up our stuff, and went down to the hotel lobby to wait for our ride to Phnom Penh.
Though our stay in Siem Reap was short, it was beautiful and educational and just a dream come true for me. Everyone should visit Angkor Wat before they die. Really.
