San Diego: Kung Fu Tea

We had some time to kill before we could check into our motel, so we meandered through Balboa Park for a bit.  We took a bunch of pictures, watched a woman (who was probably a fashion blogger) take a bazillion photos of herself, and then eavesdropped as one street musician heckled another over park space sharing etiquette until it was finally time to check in.

When we found out that there was a Kung Fu Tea on the way to our motel, there really was no choice but to make a pit stop:

Abby got the yogurt grapefruit ($4.45) and I got the lychee punch ($3.70) with black tea:

We liked the chill feel of the place so much that when Abby had her interview the next day, the rest of us hung out at Kung Fu Tea until it was time to pick her up.

That time, I got the original wow milk strike ($4.20) while T and CV ordered the grapefruit green tea ($3.70) and the lychee punch:

Growing up drinking brown sugar boba milk in Taiwan, my sister and I had always jokingly translated 青蛙撞奶 as "frog hits the milk."  Kung Fu Tea has a much catchier translation: milk strike.  It might be simple, just milk and boba in plenty of brown sugar syrup, but it's freakin' delicious.

The parking lot is a bit on the small side, but there's plenty of seating available inside Kung Fu Tea.  It really is a great place to just hang out or get your work/study on.  It's quiet, there's lots of natural light, and most importantly, there are a whole bunch of power strips for all your charging needs.  Outlets are key, yo.

Oh, and the drinks are good too.
