Chicago: Joy Yee

Since I first came across Joy Yee, I've been morally opposed to it.  No restaurant should serve Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Thai, and Vietnamese food all in the same 100 page menu.  That's just not cool, man.

So it was very grudgingly that I let CK lead JH and I to Joy Yee in Evanston for a smoothie post-bopNgrill.  She felt that it would be a waste to go all the way to Evanston and only eat at one location:

We went straight to the counter and ordered our drinks.

I was skeptical when I paid for my lychee freeze, but ended up being completely floored by it when it was ready:

Super big cup for the $3.50 price tag.  Definitely a better deal than some other places in Chinatown.  Saint's Alp may have a less icy smoothie, but Joy Yee is cheaper and has a bigger cup.  (Unless you're ordering in, then Saint's Alp serves its smoothies in a crazy big glass.)  I'm all about quantity.  Not that the quality at Joy Yee is bad.  It's entirely made of fresh fruit.

Joy Yee, I have misjudged you.  I still won't eat off your ridiculous menu, but I'll definitely be stopping by for some fruit smoothies whenever I can.
