SF Peninsula: Winner Winner
Except not really. I'm still ridiculously behind. My 2022 new year resolution is not to get caught up though. Oh, no. My new year resolution is to accept that I will be perpetually behind on my posts.
Last summer, my squad went up to San Mateo to check out Red Door Escape Room. There was a special deal going on for their grand opening, so the six of us got to try The Gift for super cheap. After successfully escaping, we convened in the Hillsdale Shopping Center food court to rehash all our favorite puzzles.
There was a lot to choose from in the food court. We ultimately decided on Winner Winner:
The tots ended up being our favorite part of the meal. The chicken sandwich itself...not that great. Which is unfortunate for a placed called Winner Winner. I can't exactly pinpoint what was wrong with the sandwich, but we all agreed that something was missing. It just wasn't very flavorful.
They certainly won for the cleverest name.
You can't go to a place called Winner Winner and not get chicken. That would just be wrong. So I ordered a crispy chicken sandwich ($11.95) with a small side ($3) of fully loaded mashed potatoes:
Even though they're called loaded mashed potatoes, they're actually made of tater tots smothered in queso, bacon, and chives.
The sandwich came with crispy breast, slaw, house pickles, and comeback sauce. Here's T's sandwich up close:
You can choose how spicy you want to go. Spice levels ranged from classic (no heat) to extra spicy. Being the wimp that I am, I went with classic. T got her sandwich medium, hence the difference in color of the chicken breading.
T opted for a side of regular tots:
It included one side and they chose mac and cheese.
They also ordered supreme style tots ($9.95):
The tots were loaded with cheese sauce, bacon, chive, and ranch.
The tots ended up being our favorite part of the meal. The chicken sandwich itself...not that great. Which is unfortunate for a placed called Winner Winner. I can't exactly pinpoint what was wrong with the sandwich, but we all agreed that something was missing. It just wasn't very flavorful.
Even though the food was slightly disappointing, Red Door Escape Room was not. We had so much fun that we agreed to buy a discounted gift card before we left so that we could try another room later.
Highly recommend Red Door. Winner Winner, not so much.
