Canada: 514 Poutine
Instead of checking into our Airbnb first, we went directly to 514 Poutine for dinner since they closed at 7:30:
Despite getting there 30 minutes before closing, the place was still packed:
As its name suggests, 514 Poutine had all sorts of poutine combos to choose from. Before we could even open our mouths to order, we were told that they'd run out of diced onions. This was sad news. But it didn't turn us away.
We got the extreme poutine ($17.14 CAD / $13.17 USD for a large), which came with beef, mushrooms, and green peppers:
We also got the deluxe ($17.14 for a large):
It came with mushrooms, smoked meat, and bacon. Since they were out of onions, we were able to substitute it with green peppers.
To switch it up a bit, we got two double OBM cheeseburgers ($16.19 CAD / $12.44 USD):
OBM meant that it also came with sauteed onion (which they had), bacon, and mushroom:
Despite the lack of onions, we were very pleased with 514 Poutine. The food was filling and delicious and precisely what we needed after a long day of mini hikes and the most painfully slow speed limit I've ever encountered.
And I do mean PAINFULLY slow. Our car rental place gave us this whole spiel about speeding tickets. Having gotten a $300 ticket once in Iceland, we took their warning to heart and were going 50 km (that's 31 miles per hour!!) through the park at times.
We were going so slowly that I wanted to die. At one point, we pulled over and no joke, 20 cars (including a bus!) passed us.
So seriously. Can Canadians please explain to me how strict you are with your speed limits? I need to know or I'm never going to Canada again.
