Orange County: Sidecar Doughnuts

While we were in SoCal back in August, we paid an old friend a visit since she happened to be home from grad school.  Abby had wanted to check out Sidecar, so we dragged our friend along with us:

Parking lot was a tad tight, but we managed to find a spot and get in line:

The problem with a line where you walk along a display counter and point at things is that you end up ordering more than you originally intended.  How can you not?  Everything just looks so freakin' good:

We walked out with the butter and salt ($3.50):

The apple fritter ($4):

The blueberry corncake ($3.50):

And the peach cobbler ($4):

Of the four, the butter and salt was my favorite.  I mean...two of my favorite things in doughnut form.  How could I not love it?  Abby, on the other hand, really enjoyed the blueberry corncake since it actually had whole kernels of corn inside.

10 out of 10 would recommend Sidecar Doughnuts for breakfast, staff meeting snack, post-lunch dessert, housewarming gift...whatever you need doughnuts for.  All the flavors are interesting, so you really can't go wrong.
