Thailand: After You
So...CK got sick. Which I guess means I have time to update this blog after all. Funny that.
Anyway, Shibuya honey toast has apparently been a big fad in Bangkok recently and the source of it all is After You Dessert Cafe:
Honey toast has also been a fad in Taiwan, but I never felt inclined to try it out. Dazzling Cafe in Taipei is a bit too...sparkly and girly for me. After You, however, looks like your average cafe. Thank goodness.
AG's family ordered three honey toasts in one go. There was the original (pictured in front) and the cheese (in back):
As well as the chocolate with strawberries:
Each toast was drenched in butter (I say that in the best way possible) and topped with ice cream.
While they were all decadent and insanely delicious, we all agreed that the best one was the original. You can really taste the buttery goodness in the original.
The honey toast blew us away, but AG was the most affected. AG had honey toast on his mind for the rest of the trip. On our last night in Bangkok, AG hinted at honey toast so much that his cousin took us on a late night run to After You after a huge meal with AG's family.
Of course we got the original toast. AG's cousin also ordered the white strawberry trifle:
Even though I was completely stuffed, the honey toast tasted just as heavenly the second time around.
Dangerous stuff, honey toast. It's probably a good thing it hasn't quite caught on here in the Bay.
