Los Angeles: Siam Sunset

Besides tacos, AG was most excited about checking out Thai Town in LA.  He did his research and brought us to Siam Sunset for breakfast:

Siam Sunset definitely had that mom and pop feel, which is right up my alley:

Since this was AG's pick, we let him go ham with the ordering.  And boy, did he.

He started us off with the Chinese donuts ($1.50 for 2 pieces):

Anything that's a vessel for condensed milk is delightful in my book.

He also ordered the rice porridge ($6.50):

There was a photo of a rice noodle roll posted on the wall ($8.95) that he couldn't resist:

Not sure what it was called, but the sauce was sweet and the rolls were stuffed with bean sprouts, pork, and other veggies.

Then there was the BBQ pork rice plate ($10.95):

On top of BBQ pork, there were also a boiled egg and crispy pork on the side.

Pork blood soup ($10.95) wouldn't have jumped out to me on the menu, but it certainly spoke to AG:

It's basically a offal lover's soup.  There's kidney, liver, intestine, stomach, heart, pork, and of course, pork blood.

And lastly, from the specials menu, he got the rolled rice noodles with pork ($10.95):

If you're curious about what Thai people eat for breakfast, Siam Sunset is the place to go.  They're open daily from 6:00am to 4:00pm.  The restaurant has a super laid back feel and the food is simple and comforting.  Don't expect any fancy décor, but do expect a filling meal that will leave you happy and satisfied.

Just make sure to bring cash.  They don't accept card.
