New Orleans: Verti Marte

CK, my sister, and I arrived in New Orleans the Sunday before Memorial Day.  The first order of business was to drop our luggage off at our Airbnb, immediately followed by Verti Marte for lunch:

A tiny convenience store, there's a deli at the back of Verti Marte you can get po' boys and other goodies.  We got there right before the lunch rush:

It looked like there was only one person manning the kitchen, so we waited quite a while for our sandwich.  Once it was ready, we took it with us to Jackson Square to enjoy on one of the benches:

Verti Marte is best known for its All That Jazz po' boy ($12.93), so that's what we ordered:

The sandwich was a masterpiece made with grilled ham, turkey, shrimp, both Swiss and American cheese, grilled mushrooms, and tomatoes on French bread.  And the sauce.  The "wow" sauce definitely lived up to its name.  Actually, it probably should be renamed the "oh shit" sauce because it's that awesome.

The All That Jazz was wet and messy and delicious and more than enough for the three of us to share.

I've never had a po' boy like that and I doubt I ever will again.  Unless I return to NOLA and to Verti Marte, which I just might because that po' boy was THAT GOOD.  And apparently Verti Marte is open 24/7, so that means you can get an All That Jazz whenever you feel like it.  (As long as you make sure to bring cash.)

What a perfect way to kick off our NOLA trip.
