Greece: The Greco's Project

Our quest for gyros led us to Bairaktaris.  We could see the gyro spits outside the restaurant, but just as we were about to order some to-go, the host waved us over and herded us inside.  Once seated, we were handed menus.

...Menus which didn't include gyros, just much pricier entrees.

We asked the server about it, only to be informed that you cannot order gyros inside the restaurant.  We pointed to the gyros at another table and the server clarified that you can only order them inside for children.  When we indicated that we would prefer to order the gyros to-go from outside, he immediately backed down.  By then, my father had had enough.  He got up and left, leaving the rest of us to hustle out after him.

Luckily, The Greco's Project was right next door:

We opted to sit inside (as usual):

We were originally only going to get gyros, but when we saw zucchini fries (4.90€) on the menu, we couldn't resist:

You can't go wrong with fried zucchini.  Especially with aioli.

My father and I ordered chicken gyros pita wraps (2.90€ each):

Whereas my mother and sister wanted pork (2.80€):

Located right along Monastiraki Square, The Greco's Project may be a tourist trap, but it's a clean one with decent service, decent food (even if a bit salty), and decent prices.  I certainly wasn't mad at it.

More importantly, my father wasn't either.
