Taiwan: Hua Cang Xue
Even though its become almost horrendously touristy over the last few years, when people visit Taiwan for the first time, they still have to check out Shilin Night Market. If only to say that they've been before.
The present Shilin Night Market looks nothing like what I remember from my childhood, but there are still some classics there. (Hint: the further you get away from the underground theme park, the better the food finds.) Jiejie set the lot of us free among the food carts in front of the Yangming movie theater. We scattered to collect what we wanted and then regrouped to share our loot.
And at the end of the night, we went to Hua Cang Xue to reflect on the girls' first day in Taipei:
Fresh watermelon milk snow ice (150 NT / $4.83) was a seasonal flavor that we took advantage of:
If you love watermelon as much as I do, you will love this.
And because we're basic, we also got the bubble tea snow ice (130 NT / $4.19):
Hua Cang Xue is heaven for snow ice lovers. You can find matcha snow ice, strawberry milk snow ice, Hokkaido snow ice, and coffee snow ice to name a few. It's pretty spacious and when there's not a line out the door, it's a nice place to sit and hang with friends.
I give it two thumbs up!
