New York: Yifang Taiwan Fruit Tea

We were originally supposed to have a full day in Flushing before dinner in Brooklyn.  But things got a little derailed when we dropped by Yifang after some chili wontons at White Bear.

We had just gotten in line when Abby suddenly exclaimed, "What the f*ck?!"  We looked down to find a stinky, disgusting mess on her scarf.  Somewhere between opening Yifang's door and stepping inside, someone had casually leaned over and thrown up in Abby's cowl scarf.

In full panic mode, we scuttled out of Yifang and into the mall across the street to find a bathroom.  Once in front of a sink, each of us tackled a different item.  Abby's scarf.  Her peacoat.  Her umbrella.

After a thorough rinsing, we then tried to find a laundromat that could dry the stuff.  Unfortunately, the nearest one wouldn't let us use the dryer for items not washing in their facility.  T came to the rescue with a spare plastic bag, into which we tossed Abby's scarf.

Not really in the mood to hang around, we unanimously decided to cut our Flushing excursion short and head back to Manhattan.  Before we left, however, we went back to grab our Yifang:

What?  Nothing can get in the way of pearl tea.

Since we'd missed the brown sugar pearl release time when we stopped by the Yifang in San Francisco (and there was no stupid pearl schedule in New York), Abby and I both ordered brown sugar pearl drinks.

I got the brown sugar pearl milk:

Abby got the brown sugar pearl milk tea.  We both asked for a large ($5.50) because, well, Abby deserved the pick me up and I...just benefited from her misfortune.

The entire subway ride back to Manhattan, we kept trying to figure out how someone could've thrown up on Abby without any of us noticing.  We analyzed when it could have happened, where we all were in relation to Abby every step between White Bear and Yifang, the possible trajectory of the vomit...EVERYTHING.  And we still came up with nothing.

I suppose it will always remain a mystery.

At least one thing is for certain: that brown sugar pearl was delicious.

Dammit.
