New York: Bar Pa Tea

Abby and I had our different lists of what we wanted to eat while in New York, but one place that featured on both lists was Bar Pa Tea:

We went straight there after dinner at Tabetomo.  The shop was small and the line reached the front door:

Why were we so excited about Bar Pa Tea?  For this:

Besides drinks, Bar Pa Tea also offers tea flavored soft serve, which we're all about.  The flavors available the night we went were black tea and oolong.  We got a swirl of both ($5.50) and added pearls to it ($0.50).

When we were asked whether we wanted the pearls on the top or on the bottom, we froze for a second.  We had a choice?  As you can see from the photo, we decided to get the pearls on top.  We regretted it later because having the pearls at the bottom would have created a more pearl tea-looking effect.

Sigh.  Missed opportunity.

The soft serve itself was creamy and delicious and everything we hoped for.  But a couple bites in, we noticed that the center was entirely hollow:

Um.  If I'm paying $6 for ice cream, I expect the cup to be filled.

Slightly disappointed by that, but no regrets about going.  Though once in a lifetime is enough for me.
