San Francisco: Salt & Straw

Since my cousin was visiting, we took advantage of being in the city to take her to Salt & Straw after dinner at Pho 2000:

There was a bit of a line, which gave us an opportunity to examine the flavor options on the hanging chalkboard:

After taste testing (quite) a few different ones, we settled on a tasting flight of four ($11.50):

Each one was carefully selected by Abby and myself to bring our family a range of different flavor experiences.  We covered fruity with the strawberry tres leches, spicy with the gingerbread cookie dough (seasonal), mature with the Sightglass coffee cashew praline, and floral with the honey lavender.  Something for everyone!

My personal favorite fell between the gingerbread and the coffee.  Both were freakin' delicious.

It's not the cheapest ice cream shop in town, but given that the town in question is San Francisco, $5 for a single isn't the worst either.  And all those interesting flavor combos certainly make it worth the slight splurge.
