South Bay: Parktown Pizza Company
Despite my tardiness, UK still treated me to lunch along with AG. Super close to T's place is Parktown Pizza Company. Due to the pandemic, there was no indoor dining allowed at the time. Instead, there was a window at which to place your order and a bunch of barrels outside to sit around:
This appetizer platter came with tandoori wings, samosa bites, and curry bread. My favorite was the curry bread (carbs rule) because it had this creamy curry sauce under the melted mozzarella cheese.
Besides the typical pizzas you'll see at a pizzeria, what makes Parktown Pizza special is their Indian menu. There's an entirely separate menu of Indian pizzas and appetizers that really bring together the best of two worlds.
We got a small Bomb-Bay pizza ($24.95):
It was topped with lemon marinated chicken, mushrooms, red onions, tomatoes, mozzarella cheese, garlic white sauce, fresh cilantro, and a mint chutney. It was spicy and bright and everything delicious. The crust was also fluffy, which I liked.
I could've stopped there, but I was with two guys with big appetites, and so we also got an Indian Sampler ($21.95):
Parktown Pizza proves that fusion can be done right. It's also just a great place to grab a drink with friends or to watch a sports game with a bunch of strangers. Obviously, that's not possible now due to COVID, but in the meantime, there's always take-out!
