Greece: McDonald's
I'm back! Greece was amazing, but it's great to be back home. Except the amount of posts I now have to catch up on is very, very daunting. Wish me luck!
Our family Greece vacay started off on a rather rough note. When I booked the tickets months in advance, the flight to Athens was scheduled to arrive around 5:00 pm. But about a month before our departure date, the flight time was changed so that our new arrival time ended up being 12:15 am. Given that our flight to Santorini was at 6:55 am, it didn't make sense to leave the airport.
The benches in the terminal didn't look super comfy, but luckily we found a 24-hour McDonald's on the second floor:
The seating there was much plushier:
We were by no means hungry, but we figured we should order at least a coffee to justify our presence there. When we approached the kiosk to place our order, however, my sister and I noticed something that we just couldn't walk away without.
Behold, the Greek Mac (€3.80):
The actual product looked like a much sadder version of the photo:
The pita bun came with two burger patties, tomato, lettuce, onions, and yogurt sauce. More than a little underwhelming, to our great disappointment. But maybe we were just too tired to appreciate it.
Maybe. I doubt it though.
We were supposed to try to sleep until the Ryanair counter opened at 4:00 am, but that didn't happen. Instead the four of us just stared blearily at our devices until it was time to check in our luggage. (WiFi is free, but you have to re-log in every 45 minutes.)
Our flight left on time and half an hour later, we were on the island. Our goal for the rest of the day was simple: stay awake.
