South Bay: Slapfish

Slapfish opened in the Bay with a flurry of Instagram posts.  Abby and I decided to wait until the fervor died down a bit.  When we saw that there was a BOGO coupon on Facebook, we knew it was time:

We went on a weekend with UK and were not surprised to find a decent amount of people there for lunch:

We placed our order and then went to find a table outside where the weather was nice and more importantly, the lighting was good for photos.

What?  Doesn't everyone choose tables based on optimal lighting?

By checking in on Yelp, we were able to get a complimentary order of chowder chips:

Basically, imagine nachos doused with clam chowder and sprinkled with bacon bits.  Chowder chips aren't actually on the menu, but chowder fries are.  Personally, I would have much preferred the fries.

Our coupon was for buy one Clobster grilled cheese sandwich and get another free:

At $15.50 per sandwich, the Clobster was oozing with a melted mix of lobster and creamy herb sauce.  It came with a choice of side salad or fries.  Obviously, we opted for fries.

We couldn't go to Slapfish and not try their lobster roll though:

The lobster was lightly dressed with butter, mayo, and lemon:

I especially appreciated how deeply cut the bun was and how there was actually lobster throughout the roll.  It was sold at market price and because UK was the one who ordered it, I did not get a chance to see how much it was that day.

Lobster is good and all, but I am a peasant at heart and I have peasant taste buds.  Between the lobster roll and the Clobster, I liked the latter more.  There's just something about that toasted bread and that gooey, cheesy filling.  The fries were nothing to sneeze at either.

So at the end of the day, the question is this: would I go back to Slapfish without a coupon?  And you know what?  I would.  The prices were not outrageous and the food was pretty darn good.
