Springdale: MeMe's Cafe
Our second day in Zion started off pretty chill. We did a short hike up to the Emerald Pools and then went back to town for lunch at MeMe's Cafe:
They also upgraded to onion rings, because duh. The beer-battered onion rings at MeMe's were good, but my preferred style is that from Oscar's. I like that thicker, crunchier crust.
We still had hiking plans for the afternoon and we didn't want to stuff ourselves. So it totally makes sense that we started by sharing a plate of wings ($8):
We chose the barbecue sauce, which was peppery and quite nice.
At our server's recommendation, CK and I split a garden veggie grilled cheese ($11). For an additional $2, we upgraded to onion rings, because onion rings are the best. They were nice enough to split the sandwich and rings for us onto separate plates:
The grilled cheese came with spinach, seasonal veggies, and roasted bell pepper aioli on a grilled sourdough. Honestly, it was a tad bland. I'm not sure what I was envisioning, but it didn't quite hit the mark for me. We probably would've done better with the cheddar bacon ranch grilled cheese sandwich. At the time, I thought the veggie option would be lighter. Sigh.
Meanwhile, Abby and UK decided to split a cubano sandwich ($13):

When you're tired of granola bars and cup noodles, MeMe's is a great place to go. The service is incredibly friendly and the food well proportioned and reasonably priced. Pretty damn good for a tourist town.
