San Francisco: Ella's Restaurant
My high school friend, NB, came up to visit me over the weekend. We met up with AF at Ella's for brunch on Saturday before heading up to Chrissy Field:
At first sight, the place looked promising:
But when the food came, we were very much disappointed. AF and I decided to split the open faced omelette:
The omelette itself was decent, though not spectacular. It came with Niman Ranch shredded beef, grilled onions, oven roasted tomatoes, rosemary, and fontina. The potatoes, however, were another story. They were frankly rather disgusting. They tasted as if they'd been frozen and then reheated in the microwave. No joke. They even looked like it.
Thankfully, the sticky bun was utterly delicious:
Overall, a very sad brunch. We all felt really let down. The quality of the food just wasn't there, especially given the nice decor and the prices. Now I understand why so many other tables had so much leftovers on their plates, but chose not to pack it to go.
Definitely won't be back for round two. There are way better brunch options in the city.
