Three Rivers: Quesadilla Gorilla

Our base for our time in Sequoia National Park was in Three Rivers. The town was so small that essentially everything could be found on one stretch of road.  

On our first night in town, we ventured out for dinner.  We didn't have to go very far to find Quesadilla Gorilla:

The food truck and its surrounding lot was charmingly decorated with fairy lights.  There were plenty of large tables open, but we opted to take our meal back to our Airbnb.

If you're looking for traditional quesadillas, Quesadilla Gorilla is not for you.  Quesadilla Gorilla prides itself on its gourmet quesadillas.  You can build your own quesadilla ($9.75) or you can choose from one of their "top builds".

Too lazy to figure things out ourselves, we ordered off the house selection.  We got the Evan Boling ($9.75):

It included cilantro lime chicken, bacon, jalapenos, and a white cheese blend.

We also ordered The Classic ($9.75): 

Which was pork chile verde with black beans, rice, and cheese.

The person who took our order recommended Where's the Beef? ($9.75):

The braised beef came with grilled fajita veggies, black beans, and cheese.

All the other quesadillas didn't include meat, so we ended up doubling up on the Classic.

With each quesadilla, you can choose two of Quesadilla Gorilla's house-made sauces.  If you want extra, they're $0.65 each.  There are seven in total, so we got to try every single one since we ordered four quesadillas.

The sauces included (in order of increasing spiciness) roasted sour cream, avocado salsa, cilantro cream, roasted red salsa, liquid gold, spicy salsa verde, and habanero salsa:

My favorite was the cilantro cream.  It was creamy and tangy and I wished I had fries to go with it.  As for the quesadillas, while they were all very tasty, there's just something really satisfying about biting into a simple meat and cheese quesadilla from a local taqueria.  

I guess I'm just not cut out for that gourmet life.
